Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookie Dough Balls

Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookie Dough Balls 5

I had a couple options for tonight’s post, but it seems my Facebook fans and Twitter followers are huge peanut butter lovers like I am. For all the years before my blog, I thought I was alone in my peanut butter addiction.  What a relief to know there is a support group! So, in honor of peanut butter lovers and addicts around the world, I’ll be holding a peanut butter party on the blog Sunday night. Email me (KeepItSweetLCL at gmail dot com) your links and I’ll include them in the post. And for those of you who don’t love peanut butter, who are you? I have a delicious frozen mocha dessert coming soon.

Now onto tonight’s recipe: A recipe that brings my love of peanut butter, cookie dough and chocolate all into one dessert. A recipe that is easy to make and relatively healthy enough to sub in for a mid-day snack (don’t you love sweets like that?). A recipe that I almost shouldn’t have because I’m officially addicted.

These may just become your favorite food.  I’ve been eating dough balls individually straight out of the freezer but I can’t stop thinking about ways to incorporate them into other desserts. This could get dangerous.

What kind of dessert should I make with these cookie dough balls?

I want to make these now!

  2. Victoria (District Chocoholic) July 28, 2011 at 8:27 pm #

Fruit (applesauce), healthy fats, oats, whole wheat flour, antioxidants (dark chocolate)…I think this sounds like breakfast.

What to make with those? You could make dessert kebabs with marshmallows and truffles. Or, mix them into ice cream. Or both.

The wait was worth it! Those look incredible!!! Eeeee! Peanut butter lovers unite! I can’t wait for Sunday! :)

  4. Baking Serendipity July 28, 2011 at 9:12 pm #

I’ve made something similar, but not with peanut butter. What was I thinking?!? I love the idea of these on kebobs! I think they would make a great frozen yogurt topping too…but that’s just my favorite treat of late :)

    • KeepItSweet July 28, 2011 at 9:14 pm #

So would it be weird if I went for fro yo and just BYOCD?

      DO IT!

  9. Ann July 28, 2011 at 9:38 pm #

These are amazing! Using applesauce, peanut butter and whole wheat flour? GENIUS! Since you asked what type of dessert…

what about individual cheesecakes with these flattened and baked at the bottom of mini muffin tins?

Or ice-cream sandwiches…roll them thin and bake?

The other thing I see is more oats and baked like granola bars.

I know – that whatever you do, they’ll be amazing!

I blame you for the 7lbs I will inevitably gain from making/eating/remaking/eating-more-of these.

    These look delicious!

  32. Nicole July 29, 2011 at 9:16 pm #

I want that for a snack! Ha, ha.

  33. sallyq July 30, 2011 at 3:21 am #

Wow this is a great recipe. However I THINK THE FLOUR AND OATMEAL SHOULD BE SLIGHTLY ROASTED BEFORE MIXING WITH OTHER INGREDIENTS to go easy on the digestion. Thank you

    • KeepItSweet July 30, 2011 at 6:54 am #

I think that would help if you have digestion problems. While I have had problems with raw oatmeal, these do not bother my stomach. I think because the serving size is small, they are not a problem.

  34. Peggy July 30, 2011 at 9:23 am #

These look so good! I think they would be perfect as-is!

  35. Ashley@BakerbyNature July 30, 2011 at 9:41 am #

I could totally see me nonchalantly popping these in my mouth every three minutes and then realizing an hour later I completely finished ALL of them… I’m Ashley, and I’m addicted to peanut butter.

  36. Christina @ Sweet Pea's Kitchen July 30, 2011 at 12:50 pm #

Can’t wait to try these!! My stepdaughter always wants to eat the dough when we bake cookies, but I’m so worried about salmonella. These will satisfy our craving for cookie dough without the worry of the raw egg. Awesome!

  39. Ann July 30, 2011 at 11:48 pm #

Congratulations on making Top 9 with these – I can’t wait to see what you do next!

  40. marla July 31, 2011 at 7:00 am #

  41. Claire July 31, 2011 at 7:56 pm #

    Hi Lauren!
I have an amazing idea for your cookie dough balls! A Peanut Butter Blizzard!

I got this recipe from Angela at Oh She Glows. It’s vegan, delicious, and sooo easy to make. I am craving one right now! I would suggest adding a Tbsp or so of peanut butter to make it even more PB-y. Hope you can try it out! Let me know if you do!

    • KeepItSweet August 1, 2011 at 9:36 am #

Thanks, Claire! I had seen that a while ago, great reminder!

  42. Maureen July 31, 2011 at 10:18 pm #

The best kind of dessert for these is to pop them into my mouth one at a time :)

    Yummy!
